George Stargell

George Stargell has been writing professionally for over 30 years, on subjects as diverse as photography, sports, corporate quality improvement initiatives, health insurance, and money management, among others.

After paying off a credit card balance of over $7,000 in the early 1990s, Mr. Stargell has devoted more attention than he ever thought he would to getting his personal finances in order, committing himself to avoiding debt and its pesky complications. He has a credit score in the mid-to-high 700s, which he attributes in part to a simple philosophy: Spend less, save more.

Mr. Stargell received a bachelor's degree in American history from Williams College. He is an avid reader, bicyclist, and golfer, and he can often be found yelling at the television screen during political debates, news, and talk shows.
